Chamber November 18, 2009 Meeting

The East Harlem Chamber of Commerce held its last quarterly meeting for 2009 at the El Banco Popular. The meeting featured a few guests speakers, including, the new Executive Officer of the 25th Precinct, a representative of Congressman Charles Rangel's office, the Executive Officer of the East Harlem Business Capital Corporation and Mr. Henry Calderon.The 25th Precinct's Executive Officer spoke about his precinct's efforts at crime abatement. He also mentioned that he had been on the job for only a few weeks and is learning more and more about the community each day.
Socrates Solano, a representative from Congressman Rangel's office spoke to those in attendance about the Congressman's efforts on behalf of the community.
Nelson Medina of the East Harlem Business Capital Corporation updated the group on its efforts to assist small businesses in the community. He was also on hand to help distribute medals to children who had completed the Corporation's Financial Literacy course. The course teaches children about finances, what banks do, how many is used and how they can begin to save their money in for their future.
