November 2010 Quarterly Meeting


imageThe East Harlem November 2010 Chamber of Commerce Meeting. The quarterly meeting opened with welcoming remarks from President Henry Calderon. Mr. Calderon introduced Councilwoman Melissa Mark-Viverito, who spoke about youth violence and the Youth Council which meets regularly at her district office to discuss issues that concern youth. The Councilwoman encouraged everyone to get involved in her Youth Council and in the different Community Advisory Boards, such as the Metropolitan Hospital Center CAB and the 23rd and 25th Precinct Advisory Board. Chamber Holds Breakfast Meeting


imageEast Harlem - February 5, 2010. The chamber held it's first meeting of 2010, a breakfast meeting, at the Terrance Cardinal Cook Center. The breakfast's topic was "East Harlem Businesses; How to operate during A Recession". The breakfast hall was packed with attendees, including the Councilwoman Melissa Mark Viverito, State Senator Jose Serrano, Jr., Congressman Charles Rangel, and State Senator Adam Clayton Powell IV.

Mr. Henry Calderon spoke about the need for local business to advertise, increase discount and specials in order to bring in customers. He also mention the need to improve a business establishments' appearance. Mr Calderon also spoke about businesses taking advantage of small business tax incentives and Empire State Zone business hiring incentives. Lastly, Mr. Calderon spoke of the need to keep the business. Read Story

Chamber November 18, 2009 Meeting


The East Harlem Chamber of Commerce held its last quarterly meeting for 2009 at the El Banco Popular. The meeting featured a few guests speakers, including, the new Executive Officer of the 25th Precinct, a representative of Congressman Charles Rangel's office, the Executive Officer of the East Harlem Business Capital Corporation and Mr. Henry Calderon.
